Letter to the Queen

We also wrote a letter to the queen. It reads:

Dear Your Majesty,
We are learning about you in kindergarten and want to know if you will visit us in America. We learned that people used to get their heads chopped off in England. Do you still do that? Do you have a green dress? Our teacher, Ms. Baker, is dressed like you today and is wearing a green dress. We want to say that even though we are from America we are really nice and we hope that you get used to us one day. If your kingdom ever falls, you can come here. We also want to know if a king or queen of England ruled our country a really long time ago? Did you know them? If you had the Declaration of Independence there, would you rip it up so you could rule us again?

Love, Ms. Baker's kindergarten class

P.S. We think our teacher, Ms. Baker, borrowed your gloves today.

The kids all signed it Declaration of Independence style...some wrote big and some small!

The Queen

We have been learning about Thomas Jefferson and The Declaration on Independence in Kindergarten. On Friday, we had a special visit from the queen of England to talk to us about how England is ruled! The kids learned that you are not allowed to touch the queen, you must call her Your Royal Highness or Your Majesty, and you must curtsy or bow when in her presence! It was a fun day!

We also made masks for Mardi Gras!

Mardi Gras in our class

Our King and Queen of Mardi Gras! They got the baby/frog from the King Cake!

Yum...King Cake!

For Mardi Gras we caught beads, wrote about our beads, and ate King Cake!

Writing about our beads!

The awesome King Cake that Mrs. Jynette made!

Enjoying the beads!

We had a great time shouting, "Throw me something, Mister" to catch beads!

The kids all lined up on the carpet and I threw them beads!

Ms. Baker's trip to Mardi Gras

This was the sign we saw in the airport!!

The Jackson Cathedral in New Orleans.

The city had so much trash on the ground.

We caught lots of beads!

One of the parades had a Statue of Liberty float!

A really big chair to sit in and watch the parade!

It rained a lot so we got to ride 4-wheelers in the mud!

Dr. Seuss' birthday

We had a lot of fun celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2. We made Dr. Seuss hats, read The Cat in the Hat, wrote our own Foot Book, and had an amazing cake that Mrs. Kyla made for us. We also had an author, Mrs. Chapman come in and read us a story! It was a great day!

Kindness Picture Contest

Our class participated in a school wide kindness picture contest. Each student had to draw a picture about how they could be the one to start the trend of kindness in the world or at our school. Another teacher selected 3 winners from our class. These winners will go on and in the end, one winner from each grade will have their picture hanging up in our school and they will receive a certificate at our next assembly. Good luck guys!
